Robert Strader
Owner

Welcome to Slugger Contracting LLC. My name is Robert Strader and I am the owner of Slugger Contracting. I have always been intrigued by breaking the limits as to what can be done and how precise and efficient they can be done. This rings true in everything that has brought me to where I am today as the owner of Slugger Contracting.

I graduated from the University of Louisville with a degree in Sports Administration as an honor roll student every semester. I also played baseball while attending the University of Louisville. Before graduating I was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the MLB Draft and decided to turn pro after my junior year. But I would finish my degree in the next 2 off seasons during the fall semesters. Upon graduating I would go to play a year with the Colorado Rockies Organization as well where I retired due to injury.

After retiring baseball a former teammate invited me in for an interview with the company that he was interning at while getting his masters degree in business. This company was Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Louisville. I started as an installer; learning the tricks of the trade and what went into making a beautiful architectural/landscape lighting system. After a few months, I moved into sales for the company where I enjoyed meeting new people everyday along with really bringing their homes to life at night. Whether that be aesthetically, security, safety; whatever the customers needs were. Designing some extravagant, complex systems really opened my eyes to everything that goes into an outdoor living space that meets the customer’s needs. Not only from my companies’ point of view but many other trades as well.

Throw in a quick hiatus where I wanted to start my own company as an artist. (Hence the attention to detail being so precise.) I loved drawing portraits for weddings / pets / you name it. But my love for the outdoors and enjoying nature prevailed as soon as Christmas and winter came and went and spring was upon us.

From there I moved into sales for a Lumber Company supplying the materials to builders and remodelers. This taught me so much more from the operations side of things and how many moving parts really go into putting together a home for someone.

All of this along with my drive to be the best at whatever I am doing mixed with my attention to detail and being hands on has brought me to where I am today. The joy and satisfaction that I get from completing a job for a 100% satisfied customer is more than words can describe. Knowing that the work I have done will be appreciated for many years by that homeowner or future homeowners is what drives my love for the industry.
